NTT Docomo to Launch a Web3 Coalition with Astar

NTT Docomo, one of the largest mobile operators in Japan, has partnered up with Astar Network, a multi-chain smart contracts platform, in order to expedite the launch of Web3 across the country. The collaborative endeavor will take the shape of a coalition, which will open the door for individuals and organizations to use tokens for management reasons. This will make it feasible for individuals and organizations to utilize tokens.

NTT Docomo and Astar Network are Willing to Collaborate on Some Issues

According to a statement that was made public in a press announcement on November 9, both NTT Docomo and Astar Network have expressed their willingness to collaborate on three important issues. They intend to pursue sustainable growth by conducting research studies on the environmental challenges presented by Web3, attempting to eliminate technical skill gaps on the path to wider adoption of Web3 through education, and providing opportunities for business executives and engineers to acquire and gain knowledge through hands-on experience.

According to Sota Watanabe, chief executive officer of Astar Network, the program’s goal is to bring Web3 into the hands of the general populace rather than keep it limited to a small group of people who are knowledgeable about technology. In this environment, having more robust scenarios that provide exceptional user experiences on infrastructures that are accessible to everyone is very necessary. It is about cultivating an environment in which a greater number of people, and not only those working in technology, may profit from Web3.

Japan Demonstrates Growing Interest in Digital Assets

Meanwhile, Japan, which is responsible for about one-third of Docomo’s ownership, has demonstrated a growing interest in Web3, cryptocurrencies, and decentralized finance (DeFi). On November 2, the Japan Digital Agency formed a research decentralized autonomous organization with the purpose of investigating Web3 technologies. Late in the month of October, the city of Fukuoka, which is the nation’s second biggest coastal city, collaborated with Aster Labs to develop new uses for Web3 technology.

Whereas, the country has tight cryptocurrency rules, its head of state has been quite public about the government’s ambitions to spend heavily on metaverse and Web3 efforts. The Japan Digital and Crypto Asset Exchange Association has pledged to facilitate the listing of virtual currencies on approved exchanges by relaxing the screening procedure.
