Eminem, Snoop Dogg Set to Perform at BAYC Metaverse

The well-known rap artists Eminem, as well as Snoop Dogg, are reportedly moving ahead toward a performance on the Video Music Awards (or VMA) of MTV on Sunday. The rap icons are participating in the respective occasion with a special appearance to perform their new single track which is themed on the Otherside metaverse BAYC NFTs.

Annual VMA Event to Present Eminem and Snoop Dogg’s Joint Performance

The mutual appearance of these rap celebrities is being witnessed for the first time in a VMA performance after nearly a decade. Diddy and Snoop performed in 2005 at the event of VMA. Eminem and Rihanna together performed in 2010 while appearing at the opening act of the show. The iconic rappers performed at the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show this year along with Mary L. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, and Dr Dre.

After that in June, at ApeFest (a New York-based festival for those who possess the Bored Ape non-fungible tokens), they performed live in their exclusive collaboration. As the average rate of audience interaction was more than 38M people throughout the venues in the previous year’s VMAs, the duo rappers’ performance would likely provide a special chance to take Web3 as well as NFT adoption to new heights.

Rap Icons Are NFT Enthusiasts

Both the artists are big devotees of non-fungible tokens however Snoop’s moves in this respect are more active. He is engaged in several collaborations and projects starting from the industry of food-related products to the most prominent metaverse collectibles under the Sandbox. They also have BAYC NFTs in their possession. A single was recently launched by Snoop Dogg under the title EDM, featuring an animated video that presents Esther Anaya as well as the NFTs of the Bored Apes collection.

It is noteworthy that a category named ‘the Best Metaverse Performance” has also been included by the VMAs’ team in the upcoming annual awards. The purpose of including this category is to indicate the requirement for worldwide recognition of the metaverse. The rest of the nominees in the VMAs take into account Twenty-One Pilots, Rift Tour, and Justin Bieber.

This time, VMAs are keenly eyeing the viewership statistics and hope that the inclusion of metaverse-related content will elevate the viewers’ number. A reason behind this is a gradual decline witnessed in the viewership of the awards since 2011, the time when the viewers surpassed the figure of 12.4M.
