Xia Baolong Hopeful Regular Exhibitions Hold To Engage Innovation And Technology

Xia Baolong, Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the “National Security Education Day 2023” at the Wan Chai Convention and Exhibition Center in Hong Kong. The event was held with the theme of “Building a National Security Defense Line and Fully Escorting the Stable and Long-term Implementation of ‘One Country, Two Systems'”.

HKSAR Government’s Role

During his 30-minute speech, Xia Baolong discussed the importance of maintaining stability and preventing the return of chaos and violence to Hong Kong. He emphasized the need for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government to assume the main responsibility for governing Hong Kong, consolidate the foundation of governance, and be vigilant against the resurgence of street violence, covert unrest, and overseas chaotic activities.

Xia Baolong also highlighted the importance of patriotic forces supporting the Chief Executive and the HKSAR Government in governing according to law. He encouraged them to grasp the era of “patriots administering Hong Kong,” take positive actions, and put forward more constructive opinions and suggestions to help resolve deep-seated contradictions and problems.

 

Hong Kong’s Harmony and Stability

Additionally, Xia Baolong believed that the judicial and legal professions would play a crucial role in safeguarding national security and the rule of law in Hong Kong. He expressed his support for Hong Kong’s maintenance of the common law system and the completion of Article 23 of the Basic Law.

The Director also highlighted Hong Kong’s role as a hot land and paradise for opportunities and wealth, with the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law leading to a better business environment and increased confidence of foreign investors. He encouraged every resident to contribute to maintaining Hong Kong’s harmony and stability, with interest demands not being contradictory to safeguarding national security.

Xia Baolong expressed his belief that the vast number of young people in Hong Kong would become a promising and proud generation, bravely shouldering their responsibilities to their families, Hong Kong, and the country. The “National Security Education Day 2023” event aimed to raise public awareness of national security and promote the implementation of the “One Country, Two Systems” policy in Hong Kong.
