Polygon Plans MATIC To POL Token Transition
Polygon, the Ethereum scaling solution, has unveiled plans for a technical upgrade to its native MATIC token, as part of its Polygon 2.0 roadmap. The proposed upgrade aims to transform MATIC into Polygon (POL), a versatile token capable of validating multiple chains within the Polygon ecosystem, pending community approval.

If the community reaches consensus to adopt it, MATIC holders will have their tokens upgraded to POL in 1:1 ratio. There will never be two native tokens.

POL Token Upgrade
If the upgrade receives the green light, the POL token will be designed to operate seamlessly across all Polygon protocols, including Proof of Stake (PoS), zkEVM, and Supernets. The primary objective of this upgrade is to enhance scalability within the ecosystem while maintaining robust security measures.
