NFT Project ENS Reclaims the Domain Name Thereof

The Ethereum Name Service (ENS), an NFT project based on Ethereum, has reclaimed authority over “eth.link” (the Web domain name thereof). This has been witnessed after the issuance of an order issued by a court based in Arizona. A legal fight was initiated between ENS and GoDaddy formerly in September 2022.

Domain Name of ENS NFT Project Returned to Them during Its Lawsuit to Get It Back

A blog post was published on the 19th of September by True Names Ltd, known as the parent firm of Ethereum Name Service non-fungible token collection. In that post, the platform validated having had reclaimed authority over eth.link following winning a legal case fought under a court in Arizona. In a Twitter post shared by the platform, it declared to resume offering the service to the consumers on eth.link.

The firm at the back of the ENS NFT program submitted a legal case against GoDaddy (a registrar of web domains) for selling the domain name thereof to some 3rd party formerly in September. GoDaddy was accused by True Names of infringing a contract for the registration of a domain name. As per True Names Ltd, it was wrongfully thought by the registrar of the web domains that the eth.link domain got expired and subsequently traded to some other party.

Dynadot – the entity to which the domain name eth.link was sold by GoDaddy – later sold the respective domain to Manifold Finance (a DeFi aggregator). However, it is noteworthy that True Names Ltd’s motion to have an initial injunction to the issue was granted by the court dealing with the matter. After that, the court decreed that the eth.link should be given back to the ENS NFT collection.

Manifold Finance’s Founder Refutes the Settlement of the Lawsuit

Nick Johnson (Ethereum Name Service NFT collection’s founder), while disclosing his enthusiasm, commented that they have been successful in winning the case against the defendants with the domain being returned to them. On the contrary, the success of the Ethereum Name Service has been refuted by Manifold Finance. It asserted that the case has not been settled yet.

The founder of Manifold Finance – Sam Bacha – while showing disgruntlement, mentioned that restoration of the Domain Name Services was carried out just to guarantee there is still a value of the domain. He added that they would provide more information to the court to clarify their stance and win the case afterwards. Meanwhile, the customers of the Ethereum Name Service are allowed to utilize the eth.link thereof without any hindrance.
