Dapper Labs CEO Announces Layoffs Of 51 Colleagues

Dapper Labs, the NFT company behind projects like NBA Top Shot, has experienced a second round of layoffs, with CEO Roham Gharegozlou announcing the departure of 51 colleagues. The layoffs included both full-time employees and contractors, as Gharegozlou emphasized the necessity of these actions to ensure the company’s long-term success.

Dapper Labs Addresses Downsizing

Despite the unfortunate circumstances, Gharegozlou expressed his willingness to support the departing team members in their future endeavors. He offered to serve as a reference and encouraged entrepreneurship, showing genuine interest in their potential startup ventures. Dapper Labs also revealed plans for an upcoming meeting where the team would review their priorities. This strategic evaluation aims to realign the company’s focus and optimize its operations moving forward.

Gharegozlou reassured that Dapper Labs and its blockchain platform, Flow, are well-capitalized to pursue their mission. Flow has separate funding, eliminating the need to sell tokens for short-term operational requirements. This financial stability positions Dapper Labs to navigate the challenges and continue its growth trajectory.

NFT Vision Despite Past Downsizing

This is not the first time Dapper Labs has faced downsizing. Last November, the company discreetly reduced its workforce and attributed the decision to the state of the company’s health. It is worth noting that various crypto-focused companies have experienced similar downsizing during periods of crypto winters when market conditions became challenging.

Dapper Labs remains committed to its vision and goals within the NFT space. The company has achieved significant success with NBA Top Shot and other notable projects, and it aims to build upon its accomplishments. By streamlining operations and optimizing resources, Dapper Labs aims to position itself for sustainable growth and continued innovation in the NFT ecosystem.

The NFT industry has seen remarkable growth and interest in recent years, and Dapper Labs aims to be at the forefront of this transformative trend. While the layoffs are regrettable, the company is focused on shaping a resilient and prosperous future, leveraging its experience, resources, and capital to drive the next phase of its journey.
